How Can breathlessness Along With Fatigue Be Treated?

I have some signs of edema (this is new to me) and have had recent bout with high blood pressure and with adjustments to my medication it is now under control. I have not shortness of breath or fatigue. I did have a heart attack and a stint put in 8 years ago. I am concerned I have congestive heart failure, does edema and shortness of breath or inability to exercise at least with some intensity go together or can it be one with out the other?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Regarding your concern, I would explain that all your symptoms could be related to heart failure.

For this reason, I recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound and checking NT pro-BNP plasma levels.

It also necessary performing some other tests (a chest X-ray study, complete blood count for anemia, kidney and liver function tests.)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
